Giving birth to a neighborhood cinema

Visual identity of Cinéma Moderne and its sister brand, the Post Moderne post-production studio. Located in the heart of Montreal's Mile-End, the cinema opened its doors directly on the first floor of the studio. It is thus occupied by the studio during the day, and opens its doors to the public in the evenings as well as on weekends.

This dual role led us to create a two-headed brand image that uses almost the same identity signs, but exploits them differently.

Although inspired by the codes peculiar to classic cinema (retro signs, Hollywood stars, banknote shapes, marquee typography) we wanted to re-inscribe them in a very modern minimalist style.
